Have you started your strategy planning for 2022?

Before you decide where you are going, you need to know where you are! WHY❓

If you just focus on where you are going, you have no visibility on what is needed to get there. Strategy planning is much more than that!

Understanding where you are is crucial!  Often, this is the forgotten step in building a strategy that you can believe in and actually achieve. For example, if you want to book a flight, you need to know both the destination and the starting point.

If you are going to do it, DO IT RIGHT👊🏻

Effective strategy planning starts with a good understanding of what happened over the last 12 months. And provides answers to where you are today.

That is

✅The good

✅The bad

✅And the Ugly

There are a number of ways I like to cut this.

First, we look INTERNALLY,

I like to break it down to

 🎯 People

 🎯 Process

 🎯 Technology

And ask questions

Did we achieve our Targets❓

What worked well❓ – (KEEP Doing)

What didn’t work well❓ – (STOP Doing)

What was there too little of❓– (START Doing)

What do you we need to change❓– (CHANGE how or who)

 💥 Then we look EXTERNALLY

And ask the same questions in relation to your

✅ Customer base

✅ Market place

✅ But also market pains

✅ Trading economy

Sometimes we won’t get the answers there and then, but that forms part of the action plan! which is, gather data!

The final piece of this stage of the strategy planning is asking the same questions again to the business leader. I will discuss this again as it’s a subject in its own right!

Once we have all that, we create a report that will reflect everything we discussed. Afterward, I let them absorb it for a while before we go to the next step. This is important, quite often there is a lot in this report that they may not be happy with. Therefore, time is needed to understand the WHAT and also the WHY!

From there we then move on to the next step of the strategy planning process that is:

Create your MOONSHOT Vision. 🚀

So the question I have for you is, What action are you going to take to understand where you are today?
